NAFA Art Exhibition '07
Mr. Lim brought us on our, or rather my second excursion to one of NAFA'S art exhibitions. i have to admit i was really impressed with the artworks. although the size of the gallery was quite small, but it was more of quality than quantity. definitely do doubt about their standards.
This was the first artwork that caught my eye when we entered the gallery. Titled "Lack of, The" is a form of installation art . It was quite unique as it was not the usual..."whole" art piece, it was shattered. delieberately, i guess.
"City of Lights". Elegant,Glamourous huh? Its made of pieces of acrylic plastic i think, with some very intricate carvings on each and every piece, te-e-dious! It might look like a few pieces of ordinary plastic...but with the right arrangement, some designs, some powder, throw in some light and....voila!
at first sight, she gave me this japanese style feeling. but "Little Miss" is actually an "ang mor" doll. but the artist is asian! complicating huh? wonder how the artist made her.
"Singapore Through the Eyes of A Filipno Teenager", the title speaks for itself.
"Ad Afinitum", a really nice painting. very detailed and intricate. looks like a construction site haha.
"Fashioning Japan", again, self explanatory. very anime looking but still very nice!
"Time Present Time Past". another intricate painting.
"War Cry", adapted from the oh-so-popular online game, Warcraft. It is in the form of a comic, totally Pen-Drawn! how cool is that!
"Jack and The Chronicles Of Death". really "emo" kinda feeling...
"Combordity". I forgot what media was used, but i reckon it's paint?
"Paper Cut". It's a painting, but not on canvas, unlike all beautiful paintings, but on paper! LOTS AND LOTS of paper...it's like this long stretch of paperS joined together.
This is one of my favourites! "Seeds of love"! And No, it isn't photos! it's a painting! Don't it just look so SO real?! wow wish i could paint like that...
"Thinspiration". what the artist is trying to portray here is someone, which is actually thin (represented by the dimunitive deer), keeps thinking that she is fat (represented by the huge plastic bag in a shape of a pig around the deer). Is that someone the artist? or is the artist trying to portray this common sight in everyone nowadays? u decide...
"Space Unrecognized". Photography. the photos were kept in a transparent box, kept in this dark, stuffy, not to mention small room. i went in right after this whole big group of students and their teacher came out. Pee-ewww!
"Faces". it's made of porcelain, if i didn't remember wrongly.
All these didn't come with a title. But i guess a picture speaks a Thou-sand words, don't they?lol
