From Up Above After a tough day at training and a dreadful long bus wait,I plunged my sore ass down on a front seat on the upper deck of the bus.
I rarely sit infront on the upper deck, cos it feels kinda weird. However, what I was oblivious to was the breathtaking sight it beheld.
When I lifted my head up,wow were my eyes treated with a whole new way of seeing things.Have you ever been able to see what birds see on a tree?Well,I have.Having a bird's-eye view down on everyday life-the bustling city, the dazzling dots of lights, the congested, hectic streets, the forever-seem-to-be-in-a-rush people scurrying-it's just splendid.
From up there, people looked so small. It just reminded me of how miniscule, insignificant we,man are.We are but just organisms, the size of planktons seen from beyond,on earth, that's just but a dot seen from out of our universe,a speck of light seen from out of itself. What is our purpose in life?Is it just about getting good grades, being the youngest millionaire, slogging your hearts out at school at work etc?Or do we even have a purpose at all?
Ironically, puny we humans may be,our actions are colossal. How one man's invention of the light bulb lit up the whole gloomy world;how one man's death make millions mourn for him;not to mention how one(more like a million) man's discoveries imprisoned and exploit their braincells to their maximum in textbooks;or how one war waged costs the lives of both the participants and innocent alike.
The crisis of our bleeding earth has been the hottest, most talked about topic of the century.Though it is undisputed that we are dimunitive, let's not let the idea of "what's my one car's emmission of carbon monoxides gonna affect the world?" get to our heads. As proved, one man can make a difference.Imagine what 7389274943943930's people can do.Seen from wayyyyy beyond, our earth,is like a hydrogen atom.We only have that one little home and if we are "the only lifeforms" around and if we don't do anything, who will?
Maybe our actions are insignificant. But the whole world would still be blanketed in darkness if everyone hadn't accepted Thomas Edison's invention. It takes everyone's cooperation to make a change. If everyone would just do his own part and do away with cars and take the public transport,or if you can, grit your teeth and walk a few miles, the world would slowly begin to heal.Hey,it's healthy, anddd you'd never know what you would see, hear, smell on a journey on feet-just like in a busride.
Apart from what we're doing to the earth, another big hoo-ha caused topic is what mother nature has in turn done to us too-Earthquakes,Sars,Tsunamis,Hurricane Katrina,Cyclone Nargis.Yes,they've claimed the lives, homes, families or many, but I won't blame the one up there.
If you were to have a change of perspective and look down on the world it is now,as I did,you would to.
