Caholic High's Calamitous Culture Three odd years in Catholic High, pose me a question about The Catholich High Culture and I would stammeringly answer,"What culture?"
There isn't really a common trait in every single student to be hailed as our culture. We don't really have school spirit,we don't really uphold our core values of being a gentleman with integrity-I'm sure Clavance would be able to write a ten-page essay on that(His iPod was stolen)-and to a certain extent,we don't really feel that school's our second home.
But,we're all perceiving the term culture as a positive word.
Maybe we do have a culture-a bad one.As much as the peevish Mr Heng and Mr Leong would like to have a five-hour-discussion together about the Catholic High students' intrinsic tendency to 'murmur' in class,I,too, might have to start preparing what to say.
Well I shall not elaborate on that,for I,too,am a guilty culprit.=p
But what I will never do,is a common sight in the MOELC(MOE Language Centre).
As soon as the recess or dismissal bell rings,elephant-like-footsteps storming towards our class's direction would come reverberating throughout the class.Diverting our attention to the window to watch-or scrutinize-boys donning the bleached white uniform whizzing past, all Marcus and I could do is furrow our brows and pray hard.
As they past the door,it was clear-green shorts. We cannot help but sink down into our chair...
It's embarrasing to see our juniors' childish ways taint the reputation our seniors once held high with pride and what we now struggle to maintain.
Perhaps the school is to be blamed for this. They have trained us into dogs. Our ears prick and eyes widen and mouth salivates on the sound of the recess bell. And we would dash to the canteen lest we get stuck in long queues. But we're all schoolmates and guilty of it,so there's nothing to be embarrased about.
But I think this sort of behaviour should only be kept behind closed doors and not exhibited beyond them for it is downright, utterly absurd and degrading.
So please, juniors, either you start holding yourself up with poise,or learn to drift silently and stealthily like a Ninja.
