Brawl or Withdraw'l I was playing Basketball with my friends just now. What was supposed to be a relaxing leisure sport became a nasty affair-or almost one.
As if associating the great game with ABs isn't cliched and disgraceful to the game enough,we were playing against a bunch of them.
Well,I have to admit,we didn't play very much the way we wanted to...And our frequent loopholes gave a boost to their confidence-or arrogance.
Arrogance is a very rough and vulgar creature.
They were bulldozing their way, banging through our defence, casting nasty,callous,in-your-face remarks at us.
The beast within me wanted very much to show its ugly face, but the seasoned and adept tamer subdued it.And I just drew up a smile.
You could hear a raindrop collide against the ground at the court;I realised we've induced quite a couple pair of eyes. The deafening silence seems to be waiting in suspense, waiting for someone (on our team) to stand up to them.
Should we stand up for what we believe is right?Or just swallow our rage, just because we fear the inconceivable-a brawl leading to casualties and a police case?Every inch of me tells me that I'd be letting myself down if we take a step back every time they take one forward.
But then again,is what we perceive to be right always right?Perhaps taking a step back would give us a better juxtaposition of the options of to fight or to flight.
Perhaps holding our peace was the right decision after all.
