Sleep Glorious SleepPhotos:http://s486.photobucket.com/albums/rr223/edmundg/Just returned from Track Chalet two days ago - embracing the expanse of my lovely, comfy, hypnotising bed.Put a energetic Track and Field Team in a chalet, a room full of testosterone = no sleep. I think i didn't even have 10hours of sleep for those two days and I was one of those who had already slept the most; but only fitfully. Anyways, the journey from Bishan to Aloha Loyang Chalet was like a mission to the moon. Teo told us to take 53 and alight at the third bus-stop after Pasir Ris MRT Station, then walk. The word "walk" was so deceiving; it was more like "trudge". We alighted at some ulu ulu market - which looked no where near a chalet - and following Teo's instructions, embarked on a long, dreadful, arduous, excruciating (I suffered cuts on my feet wearing my flimsy slippers) journey. Finally, we were at the Downtown East Shopping Centre - which people thought was Escape -.- -, but we were still far from our destination...Past Costa Sands, Escape, Bungalows and we still had to endure another back-breaking plod down a long road. But, the prize at the end of the race was rewarding - two-storey chalet, big kitchen, comfy living room with TV, 4 bedrooms, swimming pool just a step outside, a playroom, an arcade, a basketball court, the beach, all at our disposal. We spent the first night exploiting all the facilities, but mostly taking a dip into the pool to play ball. Wenjie rented the Mahjong table, which sure kept a whole lotta people occupied - even Teo! He picked up the game just observing the game with some tutoring from the juniors and he was already addicted to it. He did not want to leave until he wins a game! HAHAHAHASecond night was a sumptious BBQ, which invited the only rain out of the 3 days. The witty Sec 4s were quick to react - kouping the big umbrellas at the pool side over to shelter the pits! HAHA! The Indian family next door was also barbequeing and all the Indian man at his pit could do was to fan his fire with one hand and support a small umbrella with the other and just stare in bewilderment and disbelief. So helpless, so pitiful...However, monkey see, monkey do, monkey don't see, monkey step on doo-doo.HAHAOh yes, there was a rat spotted in the kitchen that ran up some pipe. And while we were watching TV in the living room, a gale of wind landed a dead dragonfly on the floor! But if you think those were shocking, there was a monitor lizard in the drain inside the chalet! Wtf right? I noticed a body spitting out its long, thin but muscular, purplish, forked tongue. Who let the monitor lizard out! Who! Who! Who! Who!!!Sleeping on the second night was painful. I fell asleep on Timo's and Louis's bed while the sec4s and them were playing cards on the bed. Later on, they wanted to all sleep in the same room and so I was awoken to be told to change position to create more space. But Boey was like lying on half my body with the other half sqaushed against the wall! I woked up, annoyed, and jumped off to sleep on the floor, which was blardy cold! So I stomped off, half-conscious to the living room, where Clement and Isaac were sleeping. They took the cushioned chairs and I was left with one without the back cushion so my back was hurting like hell! I tried different positions to find the most comfortable one - sitting on the floor and cheek over my hand on the seat. Smart right...Clement and I wanted to see the sunrise, but we didn't know where it was rising from!So,yeah...
That last morning was a zombie-ish one. Everyone just sat on whatever they could land their sore ass on and just stoned.
We waited for time to past and the room-check. Fortunately we didn't lose anything - just one broken miserable mug: $2.14
And so, time flies when you're having fun - or even when you're stoning. With a blink of an eye, 3D2N are gone, our 4 years in Catholic High are gone, times spent in joy (all the camps, jokes, outings, competitions), fear (of the Gohs...), anger (for losing my cool and hitting Melvin in Sec2), sorrow(lousy scores), triumph (Noel's First ever Historic Victory '06), defeats (Noel's fall to rock bottom the year after...), near-death experiences (training haha) are all gone - but forever kept vivid in our minds. We left our mark in Catholic High, and they have left theirs in our minds, and now it's time to move on.
Cheers to Batch of '08 and the formidable Track and Field Team.
"Just do it."
